Answer:

Hades and Zeus

Have you ever wondered about greek mythology? Well, you can learn about 2 of the Greek gods by reading this. You can learn about Hades ruler of the underworld and Zeus King of the Olympians and ruler of the universe. Zeus and hades are alike in many ways but also different read on to learn more.

Zeus and hades are alike in one way because they are both greek gods or Olympians. Also, they both are the rulers of their own domain even though Zeus is the ruler of the Universe whereas Hades is the ruler of the underworld. Another way they are alike is that they are the sons of Kronos or 2 of the big three while Poseidon would be the third brother of the three.

Now that we talked about the similarites then let's talk about how they are different. One way they are different is that hades is the firstborn of the 'big three' and zeus is the youngest. Another difference is that they rule different domains because Zeus rules the overworld and hades rules the underworld. Zeus has children with mortals and children that are greek gods and goddesses but hades had no affairs with mortals or other gods.

Answer questions 1–7 on p. 223 of The Language of Composition. (2nd edition: Answer questions 1–6 on pp. 217-18.)

Answers

Answer:

1. Zeugma. The incongruous elements in Alexie's list are governed by the verb lived. The quality of Alexie's life was determined by the economy on the reservation, and the economy on the reservation was dependent on the government; thus, their internal hopes and fears were especially vulnerable to these uncontrollable outside forces. Alexie uses this figure of speech to illustrate the uncertain nature of life on the reservation.

2. The main stereotype of American Indians is that they are dimwitted. However, Alexie’s father loves to read, and the text says he was one of the few Indians who went to Catholic school willingly to learn.

3. By saying that everything has a fence, he is trying to tell the readers that there is a wall we all put up around ourselves. These boundaries restrict us from being the best that we can be, and also shut other people out who may want to help us instead of hurt us.

4. His childhood was painful to him, because as a student growing up he was always different for going up against the stereotype. By referring to himself in the third-person, he can almost pretend it didn’t happen to him, that the memories he has belong to someone else.

5. He is getting his point across in a powerful way by not saying, but implying what he means. Despite the lack of words in each sentence, it holds even more power and significance than if he had written out the meaning of the words.

6. First, it enforces the analogy about fences that Alexie says early on in the essay. Also, it is divided between the first, bigger half about the obstacles he faced fighting back against the Indian stereotype as a child, and the second half is about the struggle he now has with trying to help other young Indians growing up do the same.

7. In both paragraphs, Alexie repeats “I am smart. I am arrogant. I am lucky.” However, the last sentence of both paragraphs is slightly different from each other. While the first says, “I was trying to save my life”, the second says “I am trying to save our lives.” Both sentences are talking about the barriers American Indians must break through to achieve their goals. In the last paragraph, it also says that the students Alexie visited “look at me with bright eyes and arrogant wonder. They are trying to save their lives.” These students will be the ones to take up the battle that Alexie started all those years ago when he refused to be a failure. He also repeats the word “read” a lot. Through repetition he is getting a better point across than if he had just said “I read a lot.”

How can you measure an animal's brain power?

Search for information on the Internet to support your thesis. Make sure the content comes from reliable sources. The content should also clearly relate to your thesis statement. You can also create some multimedia elements of your own. Describe the supporting content that you will include in your multimedia presentation.

this is the thesis: The theme of "The Queen Bee"by Carl Ewald was on Hard Work. This is because, the other bees wanted not to work for the farmer but to go out there in the field for other things but was called back by the Queen bee. She ended up assigning them jobs on what to do thereby keeping them busy rather than idle.

Answers

Answer:

The grammar needs to be fixed a bit.

Explanation:

Delete "this is the thesis:", it doesn't need to be explained before being said. There should be a space after "The Queen Bee", which I'm sure was just a typo. Don't capitalize Hard Work. Delete the comma after because. The rest is good, I would say try answering the questions as much as you can, getting a bigger paragraph in. Good job!

If you wrote a summary of the paragraph below, which idea would NOT be part of the summary?

Antibiotics are medicines that treat infections caused by bacteria. Antibiotics have saved many lives since their invention in the 1920s. For example, hundreds of people in the U.S. used to die of tuberculosis every year. Now, such a death is very rare in this country. However, today many antibiotics don’t work as well as they used to work. Some people use antibiotics when they should not—they take them for a cold or virus, which antibiotics can’t cure. Other people don’t finish their medicine. They just stop taking it when they feel better. In both of these cases, bacteria can become resistant to the antibiotic—it no longer works against them. Once a type of bacteria becomes resistant to an antibiotic, patients with that kind of infection must use more powerful and expensive treatments. It’s important for everyone to use antibiotics correctly, so that we still have effective medicines against disease. Don’t push your doctor for antibiotics, and if you are prescribed some, take them all, exactly as you’re instructed.

1. how to treat a cold at home—without antibiotics

2.the effects of misusing antibiotics

3.what patients can do to make antibiotics work better

4.ways that antibiotics are misused

Answers

Answer:

How to treat a cold at home—without antibiotics

Explanation:

In the paragraph above, there is no such context of how to treat a cold at home, without antibiotic. If you think deeper when you read the paragraph,It is actually talking about the complete opposite idea.  If you look at the beginning of the passage it says, “Antibiotics are medicines that treat infections caused by bacteria. Antibiotics have saved many lives since their invention in the 1920s”. And already they are talking about how medicine would treat and save lives. So that right there is the opposite of “How to treat a cold at home—without antibiotics”. So I hope this was helpful!

Sacrifices have contoured life into a battle between what we have and care about with what we need and want. Where do you stand? Lots of people don't know the answer and want to stand with booth, but that's where we have the most trouble because we have to have only one and can loose booth not choosing. People sacrifice time, energy and even relationships for money, power, and freedom. This can tear lives apart and also help build stronger new lives.

Many people to this day people make bad sacrifices for things like money, relationships, and power. For example a worker headed for the top of an industry may betray a coworker to get the bosses attention. They just gave up a valued relationship for more zeros on there check and was it worth it? Through out history this type of pattern is repeated over and over like american pioneers stepping over the natives to over run the country. Maybe they could have worked together to make one goal a better country instead booth lost many lives to the battle. Was that a good sacrifice? Some sacrifices may come out in ways that are not expected. They may be neutral like you may loose something to get something equally as important. A child for instance may trade a apple for a banana with there friend. It makes no real impact but the decision is already made. This kind of sacrifice is practically just a decision.Lots of Sacrifices can have a great positive impact that can benefit you widely. You may stop drinking coffee and instead save the money for your college tuition. You loose the luxury of the warm, energy filling beverage but you will be able to learn and get your degree so your options are now widened. There are many types of Sacrifices but how do you know they are worth it?

Well what is a sacrifices value how do you know what it means to make it? You may ask your self that everyday and you always seem to know. A lot of people decide what something is worth by sentimental, profitable, benefits value. some sentimental value may be the teddy bear you had since you were little but now you want to give it to your new born son. The amount of money somethings worth is profitable value. You may not want to give away the thirty-dollar desk to your grand daughter for her birthday because you know you wont get that money back, that is an instance of profitable value. you may also benefit from something and that can give it value as well. It may make you healthier, smarter, cleaner, happier, and so on but it may not be as important as the thing you need. Its up to you to decide what is more necessary to you.

Now, you may be asking how do I decide? you have to factor in the importance of what you get from the sacrifice and all the causes of that sacrifice. Like imagine you are over an edge of an elevator and you have to choose between saving your brother and your sister. You may not pull booth up who would you choose? See now your weighing in booth the pros and cons of your siblings. Well lets ease it down you will probably not have to make that big of a decision in your lifetime but do you get the point? There is an endless list of factors you have to take in a count for each and unique sacrifice.

Generally thinking sacrifices can help and be a burden. You have to choose the value and the make sacrifice to really know if it was a bad, good, or even a neutral Sacrifice. Really anyone can decide they want to go to college but its up to you that to give up your coffee is worth it. Only you can decide when and how to make a sacrifice for your benefit.
