A correct statement on the state of an enzyme at the conclusion of a chemical reaction is: A. The enzymes is not changed by the chemical reaction.
An enzyme can be defined as a biological catalyst that typically speeds up (increases) the rate of a chemical reaction, by lowering (decreasing) the activation energy of its constituent chemical elements (reactants).
Hence, the rate of any chemical reaction is faster when its activation energy is decreased, reduced or lowered.
Furthermore, some of the characteristics associated with an enzyme include the following:
Enzyme structures (active site) are specific to the type of substrate they bond to.An enzyme may or may not require cofactors. The action of an enzyme in a chemical reaction may involve minerals. An enzyme can be used over and over i.e continuously, for different chemical reactions.Basically, an enzyme can be used continuously (over and over) because it is not changed by the chemical reaction.
In conclusion, an enzyme is unchanged by the chemical reaction it catalyzes (speeds up).

The musk ox has a large body size and small appendages. How do these characteristics enable it to survive in the tundra?
Answer:
The large body size and small appendages of the musk ox help minimize its heat loss. The smaller the surface area of an animal compared to its weight, the more slowly it loses heat.
Explanation:
The large body size and small appendages of the musk ox helps them to minimize heat loss from the body. The smaller the surface area of an animal compared to its body weight, the more slowly it loses the heat which keeps them warm for longer durations.
What is adaptation? An adaptation is defined as any change in physical or behavioral feature of an animal which helps them in better survival in the environment in which they live. In other words, an adaptation is something an organism does with their bodies which helps them in finding food, water, mates, and shelter which increases the chances of survival.
Musk ox can survive on an extremely spare diet of tundra plants, such as dried grasses, sedges and willows of forests. In the winter, when the temperature of Tundra decreases further the Musk ox can maintain their body temperature and survive in these extreme conditions. The larger body size and small appendages of these animals reduce the loss of heat from the body.

In a short essay (100–150 words), explain how oxidative phosphorylation—the production of ATP using energy derived from the redox reactions of a spatially organized electron transport chain followed by chemiosmosis—is an example of how new properties emerge at each level of the biological hierarchy.
Answer:
Oxidative phosphorylation is the main process that takes place in the mitochondria to produce ATP by the series of various carriers from NADH or FADH2 to Oxygen molecules. This involves a spatially organized electron transport system in form of a chain of the redox reactions.
The properties that emerge occurs only when there is two or more part of the chain work together and not individually. If all the part such as various part of ETC or ATP synthase and the membrane of the organelle all together workes in an orderly manner then only ATP will be formed by producing H+ protein.

Answer: The Calvin Cycle in Photosynthesis and The Krebs Cycle in Cellular Respiration. The Calvin Cycle occurs in chloroplasts and The Krebs Cycle occurs in the Mitochondria.
Explanation:
The two cycles that are associated by the utilization and production of carbon dioxide are cellular respiration and photosynthesis. These two processes takes place in the mitochondria and chloroplasts.
What is photosynthesis and cellular respiration? The process by which green plants and some of the organisms utilize light from the sun to produce foods from water and carbon dioxide is known as photosynthesis. The process generally takes place in the chloroplasts of the cell. In the process, energy is captured and oxygen is released.
The set of metabolic reactions and procedures, which occur in the cells of organisms to transform chemical energy from the molecules of oxygen or nutrients into ATP, and then discharge waste products like water and carbon dioxide. The process takes place within the mitochondria.
Thus, in cellular respiration production of carbon dioxide takes place, while in the process of photosynthesis carbon dioxide is used to produce food.

Explanation:
The forest at Great Smoky Mountains National
Park is sick, infected by invasive bugs and
plants. Matt Moore, Kaleb Lique Naitove and
Emily Baird of the National Park Service are
some of the field medics trying to keep it alive.
…
The forest they walk through is mesmerizing. The
trees glow green in the Tennessee sun. There
are a lot of tree species in this forest, but the
one they’re looking to treat is an Eastern
hemlock, an evergreen conifer that ranges
from Canada to northern Mississippi. Hemlocks
make up a significant portion of a lot of forests
in the eastern U.S., but particularly so in Great
Smoky Mountains National Park.
…
‘A Tsunami Wave’ Of Adelgids
After about 20 minutes of hiking off-trail in
the park, Moore and company reach the tree
they’ve been looking for. It’s tall, but not
particularly big. You could wrap your arms
around its trunk and still clasp your hands. By
all outward appearances, it’s healthy.
It’s time for the crew to start helping the tree
by injecting it with pesticide. Moore drills holes
around the tree’s base and then Lique Naitove
and Baird attach tubing. A bicycle pump
connected to the tube system begins to fill
it and then the base of the tree with the red
pesticide.
The female wooly adelgid is miniscule, attaching herself to the hemlock’s needle after creating her ova sack, as
shown above.
To Tame A ‘Wave’ Of Invasive Bugs,
Park Service Introduces Predator
Beetles

It’s called a tree injection system. “We call
them IVs,” Webster says. “They’re out doing
a tree IV.”
It’s like a flu shot that will help the tree ward off
invasive bugs. Most of the trees Webster’s crew
treat just get sprayed with pesticides that have
the same effect. This one’s different because
it’s near a stream and the crew doesn’t want
pesticides getting in the water.
They can’t do it for all of the trees they
treat because there are just too many. The
vegetation crew here has treated more than
a quarter million trees in the Great Smoky
Mountains. The treated ones, like the one they
hiked to, are easy to spot because they look
healthy and are alive. The trees that weren’t
treated are probably dead “or they’re close
or on the way out very soon,” Webster says.
“Probably in the next 10 years.”
The reason for this die-off is the hemlock
woolly adelgid, which is native to Asia.
Scientists believe that the specific kind killing
the Eastern hemlock is from southern Japan.
Adelgids were first discovered in the U.S. in
the 1920s. They were transported overseas
by humans and continue to be spread with
human help, mostly through the purchasing,
selling and transporting of firewood. Today,
the hemlock woolly adelgid is established in
16 states, from Maine to Georgia.
The trees at Great Smoky Mountains National
Park have been infested with adelgids
for longer than a decade. With no natural
predators and no evolved defenses, the
adelgids swept through the hemlocks at the
park like “a tsunami wave,” Webster says.
Many of the park’s hemlocks died quickly;
others are dying more slowly.
…
A Predator-Prey Balance
The pesticide treatment that the park’s
vegetation crew uses doesn’t get rid of the
hemlock woolly adelgid. It protects the tree
that gets it and only lasts five to seven years.
“It’s a stopgap solution,” Webster says.
Because of that, the National Park Service and
scientists have been trying a longer-lasting
one: predator beetles. The hemlock woolly
adelgid, like most invasive species, thrives in
its new environment because it doesn’t have
any natural predators. To change that dynamic,
Great Smoky Mountains National Park has
brought in a few species of predator beetles
from Asia that they’re raising at insectaries, or
nurseries for bugs.
…
Predator beetles will never eradicate the
hemlock woolly adelgid. They’re here to stay.
The hope of the Park Service is that by creating
that balance between predator and prey and
by educating people to not move firewood
from one location to another, they can slow
the spread of the adelgid enough to give
the remaining Eastern hemlocks a chance to
survive and adapt.

component of a phospholipid?
Answer:
Phosphate group headTwo fatty acid tailsExplanation:
A phospholipid is made up of a phosphate group head and two fatty acid tails. They are connected by a molecule of glycerol.
To form cell membranes, phospholipids line up with their hydrophilic (water loving) heads on the outside of the cell and their hydrophobic (water hating) tails inside.
A second layer of phospholipids forms with the heads facing inside the cell and tails facing away. This forms a double layer - with the phosphate group heads on the outside, and fatty acid tails on the inside. This double layer, called a lipid bilayer, forms the cell membrane.
