What are the missing products in this model? Check all that apply. 2 ATP 4 ATP 2 pyruvic acid 2 NAD+ CO2

Answers

The given question is incomplete as the model is missing from the question, however, the correct model is attached with the answer :

Answer:

The correct answer is -  2 ATP and 2 pyruvic acids.

Explanation:

The given model represents the glycolysis pathway which is the first of the key metabolic step of cellular respiration. It helps in producing the energy in form of ATP through breaking down a glucose molecule into 2 molecules of pyruvic acid and with a series of enzymatic reactions.

This process also releases energy in the form of 2 molecules of ATP and NADH. The pyruvate or pyruvic acid molecules then moves to the link reaction, where acetyl-CoA is produced.

Thus, the correct answer is -  2 ATP and 2 pyruvic acids.

Two examples of how plants move include changing location as part of reproductive strategies and their growth in response to different environmental factors. Explain the impact one of these examples may have on secondary succession in an area after a significant disaster.

Answers

Answer:

Secondary succession occurs when the severity of disturbance is insufficient to remove all the existing vegetation and soil from a site. Many different kinds of disturbances, such as fire, flooding, windstorms, and human activities (e.g., logging of forests) can initiate secondary succession. Pioneers of secondary successions face quite different conditions from those that accompany primary succession. Secondary successions often start with resource-rich conditions associated with high light availability and reduced competition for nutrients and moisture. Disturbances may also be short-lived; for example, gaps created in forest canopies close as the crowns of surrounding trees expand and as seedlings and saplings in the understory grow up in response to increased light. Pioneers rely on recruitment from propagules present in the soil, or that disperse into the site after disturbance occurs. Pioneers are able to outcompete established vegetation that survived the disturbance by maintaining high juvenile growth rates. Some of the fastest growing trees are pioneers in tropical rain forests. Individuals of the balsa tree Ochroma pyramidale, for example, can grow from seedlings to adults with >30 cm trunk diameter in <10 years.

The difference between pioneer and nonpioneer species is difficult to delineate (Table 1). Attempts to define distinct life-history strategies (implying coordinated evolution of life-history traits) are confounded because key traits such as propagule size and juvenile growth rate can vary over several orders of magnitude within a community and show broad overlap among species with contrasting habitat requirements. Nonetheless, interactions among traits can be used to describe some life-history tradeoffs that largely constrain the habitat requirements of pioneers. For vascular plants, paramount among these is a tradeoff between growth in the sun and survival in the shade (Figure 3). The high growth rates of pioneers are maintained by allocating a large fraction of the plant’s resources to new leaf area production, and by investing in nutrient-rich leaf tissue that can attain high-maximum photosynthetic rates. A consequence of preferential allocation to leaf production is that few resources remain that can be used to defend the plant against herbivores and pathogens, or to recover from physical damage. This results in high mortality, particularly in the shade, where resources needed for tissue replacement are most limiting.

The Black Death was a pandemic spreading across Europe between 1348 and 1350. Estimates states that 30% to 60% of Europe's population died from the Black Death. If we look at Europe's population before the pandemic and compare it to the population several generations later, what are we likely to find?
A. More genetic diversity in later generations.
B. Less genetic diversity in later generations.
C. Less genetic diversity in earlier generations.
D. The same degree of genetic diversity in later as in earlier generations.

Answers

Answer:

The correct answer is option B, that is, less genetic diversity in later generations.

Explanation:

A pandemic that spread across Europe between 1348 and 1350 was named as the Black Death. It has been predicted that of the total population of Europe at that time 30 to 60 percent died due to the pandemic. The geneticists are still trying to document the influence of Black Death on the population of Europe today.

It has been found that in England, the genetic diversity is found much lower in comparison to what it was in the eleventh century, and is primarily due to so many people dying in the 1300s. However, the rest of Europe does not demonstrate a dropped amount of genetic variation, which maybe because of the enhanced patterns of migration in other places.

In captivity, tigers and lions have been known to interbreed and produce hybrids, known as ligers. Why does this NOT make them the same species, according to the biological species concept

Answers

Answer:

Explanation:

A cross between a tiger and a lion will produce an hybrids. During fertilization it has been observed that both the father and the mother contributes equally to the genetic makeup of the offspring this therefore will make the liger have 50%gene from the tiger and 50% gene from the lion which is different genetic makeup from the parents.

Since the parents are of two different species the offspring will always be of a different species because its makeup is genetically different from the two parents it is a combination of two species forming a new species.

If the parental species are the same i.e two lion or tiger the offspring will be of the same species but a combination of the parental gene.

During labor, certain hormones are released that cause the contraction of the uterus in order to push the baby out. When those hormones are sensed by the glands of the endocrine system, they secrete more of that hormone which keeps labor going until the baby is born.

Answers

Answer:

The endocrine system assists in maintaining and regulating different functions of the body by producing and discharging hormones. It comprises glands situated throughout the body, which produce chemicals known as hormones directly into the blood. The levels of hormones in the blood are monitored by a highly unique homeostatic mechanism known as feedback.

The two kinds of feedback are common, that is, negative and positive feedback, of this positive feedback, is the rare mechanism. It augments the changes done rather than opposing them. For example, the discharging of oxytocin from the posterior pituitary gland at the time of labor is an illustration of a positive feedback mechanism.

The stimulation of the muscle contractions, which pushes the baby via the birth canal is done by oxytocin. This discharging of oxytocin leads to an augmented or stronger contraction at the time of labor. This contraction is enhanced and intensify until the baby comes out of the birth canal. However, when the stimulus to the pressure receptor terminates, the generation of oxytocin ceases, which eventually results in the stopping of labor contractions.

Answers

The plant was exposed to more intense light

The plant absorbed more carbon dioxide.

The production of glucose increase in plant cells when the intensity of light is increased and the amount of carbon dioxide absorbed is increased. These affect the rate of reaction.

What is Photosynthesis?

Photosynthesis is the process of formation of glucose (sugar) in the green cells of plant. Photosynthesis takes place during the daytime as it requires sunlight to proceed the reaction. The reaction takes place in the chloroplast of plant cells.

Factors which affect the rate of photosynthesis are light intensity and carbon dioxide concentration. Light intensity is directly proportional to the rate of photosynthesis, as the intensity of light increases the rate of photosynthesis also increases.

Similarly, carbon dioxide is also proportional to the rate of photosynthesis as carbon dioxide is a reactant in this process. With the increase in the amount of reactants, the rate of a chemical reaction increases and hence more product is formed.

Answers

Answer:

there must be large numbers of free amino acids present in the cytoplasm

Explanation:

In order for translation to occur, there must be a large number of free amino acids in the cytoplasm.

These free amino acids are usually carried by the transfer RNA which also carries the corresponding mRNA codon.

During translation, as the codons in the mRNA match their complements in the tRNA, the amino acid being carried by the tRNA is released and a peptide bond is formed between subsequent amino acids until the required polypeptide bond is formed.

Translation and transcription only occur simultaneously in prokaryotic cells where there is no barrier between the cell's genetic materials and the cytoplasm, unlike in eukaryotic cells where the genetic materials are housed in the membrane-bound nucleus.

Cellulase D. Lipase Please summarize the following... On July 13th, a federal judge permanently blocked Georgias recent heartbeat law from going into effect. The law would have prohibited abortion, barring certain specific exceptions, after a heartbeat is detectable in the pre-born child, usually at around 6 weeks after conception. Unfortunately, a recent federal ruling declares that Georgias heartbeat law violates the 14th amendment and is unconstitutional. I was with Governor Brian Kemp at the signing of the bill. Heres what the cultural conversation about heartbeat bills gets wrong.Georgias law faced an uphill cultural battle from the moment it was first proposed. Pro-abortion advocates and activists argue that heartbeat bills like Georgias are unnecessarily restrictive on women seeking an abortion. They argue that most women dont know that they are pregnant until well after a heartbeat is detectable in the pre-born. As a result, they say that heartbeat bills effectively work just like abortion bans, preventing women from getting any abortions at all.But we need to be very clear about one thing here. Heartbeat laws arent primarily about restricting women; they are first and foremost about putting the inherent human dignity of the unborn into law. That means heartbeat laws are about recognizing and protecting the rights of the unborn. Every human being possesses the right to life, whether born or unborn. We have a moral imperative to protect, cherish, and nurture human life at every stage. Heartbeat laws take that moral imperative and put it into law. Thats exactly what we all want our laws to do. We all want law to express and defend the moral truths of human equality, dignity, value. Its disappointing to me how often and how quickly laws crafted to protect the value of unborn life are rephrased and debated as laws about restricting or attacking women. If anything, it would be much more honest to say that the decision to block Georgias heartbeat law is an attack on the pre-born because it prevents legal protections from going into effect that would ensure America is a country where the truths of human equality and dignity apply not just to children and adults, but to the pre-born too.Neither are heartbeat laws just a partisan play by Republicans or a prerogative of white evangelicals. Being pro-life simply shouldnt be a partisan issue. When I was working on getting Georgias law passed, I heard from and worked alongside both Republicans and Democrats. Its an unfortunate fact that the official party platform for the Democrat party no longer has a place for pro-life Democrats, but that doesnt mean they dont exist. According to the last national Gallup Poll on abortion (2019), nearly 30% of Democratic voters, and 44% of Independent voters identify as pro-life. And we all too often forget that the pro-life movement is incredibly diverse and is filled with Black voices. I am one of them. But are heartbeat laws really unconstitutional, as Judge Steven Jones ruled in Georgias case? Pro-abortion advocates act like the constitutional case against heartbeat bills is cut and dry, but it really isnt. The Roe v. Wade decision is anything but clear and compelling in its argument pinning legal personhood, with all its attendant rights and protections, on fetal viability in the third trimester. What heartbeat bills recognize is the established medical fact that only about 4% of pregnancies end in miscarriage after a heartbeat is detected. It is completely reasonable to consider a fetal heartbeat as a sign that a healthy, viable new life is coming to be in a mothers womb. The Constitution exists precisely to codify and protect the rights of such human life, and heartbeat laws simply extend those protections to the unborn who are living inside the womb. For now, the federal court has made its ruling. But Governor Kemp has stated he intends to file for an appeal, and we will likely hear more debate about Georgias heartbeat bill in the months to come. When we do, I hope well get the debate right this time by putting the focus on human dignity and the rights of unborn, rather than partisan political issues and disingenuous narratives.Rev.
