Answer: The author uses playful, yet formal diction to show that slacking, or taking a break from busy activities, is important to success. The author encourages the reader to “embrace the joy of doing less” and uses a tone of admiration when describing the values of Montaigne, Thoreau, and Whitman.
By placing words such as retired and lazy in scare quotes, the author draws attention to the idea that what some consider lazy is actually a wise choice. The mood for the reader is peaceful, yet reflective. The author calls into question the common notion of slacking by using parallel structure for two contrasting ideas, stating, “Thoreau used time away from traditional work not to escape life but to embrace it.”

write a debate on why boys should not help in the kitchen
Generally speaking, boys should help out in the kitchen. There are however, certain reasons why it would be best for them not to help in the kitchen.
Some of these reasons include:
Cultural practices - in cultures where men don't cook and instead leave it to their wives, it would not be logical to allow boys in the kitchen because it might lead to them going against the culture when they grow up. Upsetting gender roles - There are traditional gender roles that are ascribed to males and females and cooking is not traditionally for males. Asking boys to help in the kitchen would go against those roles. They might not bow to female's authority - If boys are being told to help a female relative in the kitchen, there is a chance that they will be hard to control because they are generally stubborn and might decide to do things their way instead of how they are told to. Boys keep eating - Boys generally have a high metabolism and if told to help in the kitchen, might keep eating the things they are supposed to help cook.In conclusion, boys should help out in the kitchen because it is a valuable life skill to have but for the purposes of this question, they should not.

Answer:
Critical Response Essay -
“A Sound of Thunder”
“Nethergrave”
"A Sound of Thunder" and "Nethergrave" theses two stories are two different but alike novellas. They are both science fiction and they are included with lots of adventure. These novellas are both good works of writing. Although I like both novellas I like "A Sound of Thunder" because it is more of a book that gets the point across to people and explains more about itself. Overall, A Sound of Thunder is a better example of writing and was more interesting.
The Nethergrave's plot is different from A Sound of Thunder for it is not as tragic and changing as A Sound of Thunder. The kid in here was lying to be cool to his friends and he was more interested in the Nethermagus. This was a big story plot in this novel because it was a big decision for him to stay with the Nethergrave forever. This story gives traits of science fiction for its technology, changing places, and the different powers that are demonstrated.
In A Sound of Thunder was about Eckel, travels from 2055 to 85 million years set back. They get in trouble, but hope to make it back to 2055 alive. When they were time traveling, bad things started to happen to their year 2055. Things were not the same. They were worse, This is an example of science fiction because of the plot, and the setting of the writing. They all include traits of science fiction. This time and setting of the story was involving unrealistic traits and unreal things in the story such as creatures and objects.
Although these stories have totally different plots, good parts such as strengths, and bad things in the story such as weaknesses. These books could both be compared and contrasted. These two novels show how technology can be very dangerous no matter what type of technology it might be. Yes, they might be science fiction stories but they can be compared to the future like today. This is because technology is getting more and more advanced everyday."Nethergrave" was more of a story to show you that when life gets hard don't jump to the first decision you see to make a bad decision that you will regret later in life. While "A Sound of Thunder" was more of a story that had a better plot and more characteristics that could be explained by the characters in the story.
While both stories were really well written, "A Sound of Thunder" is a more put-to-the point story and written a lot better than "Nethergrave". They are both about technology and really defined, but the story's and characters had two different mindsets. As supposed to them both are a reflection on how things can have such a big impact on your life even if it doesn't seem like it would. Things are always changing around us.
Explanation:
‘A Slight Misunderstanding’ is an example of humorous narrative essay. Pick out a few humorous instances from the story.
Answer:
A Slight Misunderstanding is a short humourous book written by J. B Boothroyd, a popular English writer.
The story has a few humorous instances such as when the protagonist of the story enters the wrong car because it was similar to his car but saw that it contained a woman's handbag but he somehow found the home address of the lady by reading the collar on a dog nearby that barked at him.
He eventually found out that the car was actually his own car that the woman forgot her handbag in.
The situation was funny when he was relating it to the woman's husband because the husband was used to his wife's forgetfulness and carelessness. It was also funny because the only reason the protagonist knew it was actually his car was because of the plate number.
Another humorous incident that happened was when the protagonist entered a wrong car for real when the boot of the car was opened and it was hay that was there instead of fruits, fish, and other groceries.
Compare Congressman Tim Huelskamp’s view of government involvement in addressing obesity issues with Laura Collins Lyster- Mensh’s view. Use supporting evidence from the lesson to support your comparison. Your response should be a minimum of three complete sentences.
Answer: Tim Huelskamp is against the program of prohibiting upper caloric limits at schools, fearing that kids might waste food instead of being healthy, and Laura Collins Lyster- Mensh is against putting your children on a diet, just for fearing obesity. Both of them disagreeing on extreme rules for "avoiding" it.
Explanation: Tim Huelskamp stated on "No Hungry Kids Act", which is against the measures of prohibiting the consume unhealthy food at school, that "The goal of the school lunch program is supposed to be feeding children, not filling the trash cans with uneaten food."
On the other hand, Laura Collins discusses the issue of families putting their children on a diet, because they are afraid of them getting obese, which has her disagreeing as well with extreme "preventing measures" from the government.

PLEASE HELP ME!!! Melvin couldn't believe his luck. He had always wanted to get gold and purple Dynamite mountain bike. He was working hard at his chores and saving his allowance. Finally, he had enough money to buy the bike of his dreams. His father said they would go to the store on Saturday. Friday night, Melvin could hardly sleep. His mind was unable to rest as it raced with excitement and anticipation. After a few hours of counting sheep after sheep, he finally drifted off into a deep sleep where his dreams were vivid and realistic. He could feel the wind in his hair as he raced up and down the hills on his new mountain bike. In the morning, Melvin's father woke him up at 7 am sharp. After getting dressed and brushing their teeth, they got in the car and headed to the store. Melvin felt like he could burst with excitement! When his father asked if he was ready, Melvin quickly replied, "Are you kidding? I have been ready for months!" When they arrived at the store, Melvin sprinted to the back where the bikes were. His eyes glistened when he saw all the new, shiny bikes. His choices were endless! But there was only one that he really wanted. Melvin's eyes scanned back and forth for the gold and purple bike that he had been dreaming about, but he couldn't see it. He searched and searched up and down the aisles, but it was nowhere to be found. His heart sank with disappointment. It was the only one he really wanted, and now he couldn't get it. "I worked so hard for nothing! It's just not fair!" Melvin exclaimed as his shoulders slumped and he stormed away from the bikes. He just wanted to give up and go home, but Melvin's father told him not to worry. Like any dad would, he went and spoke to the store clerk. A few minutes went by as Melvin paced back and forth, anxiously awaiting his father's return. Sure enough, his dad came back with a huge smile on his face. He told Melvin that there was one gold and purple Dynamite mountain bike at the store across town and that they would put it on hold for him. Melvin jumped up and down with delight. He was so happy, and he finally understood what his father had always told him: You should never give up at the first hurdle! Which detail suggests the problem Melvin faces in the story? A.
