“Lost Generation”
by Jonathon Reed
I am part of a lost generation,
and I refuse to believe that
I can change the world
I realize this may be a shock but
'Happiness comes from within'
is a lie, and
'Money will make me happy'
So in thirty years I will tell my children
they are not the most important thing in my life.
My employer will know that
I have my priorities straight because
work
is more important than
family
I tell you this
Once upon a time
Families stayed together
but this will not be true in my era
this is a quick fix society
Experts tell me
Thirty years from now I will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of my divorce
I do not concede that
I will live in a country of my own making
In the future
Environmental destruction will be the norm
No longer can it be said that
My peers and I care about this earth
It will be evident that
My generation is apathetic and lethargic
It is foolish to presume that
There is hope.
And all of this will come true unless we choose to reverse it.

Use these steps to determine the theme for a work:
1. Summarize the poem by writing a one-sentence description of the story.
2. Identify the insight or truth that was learned about the subject.
- How did the author change?
- What lesson did the author learn?
3. State how the plot presents the primary insight or truth about the subject.
4. Write one or more generalized, declarative sentences that state what was learned and how it was learned. (Combine 2 and 3).

Which writing sample is the best reflection of this important theme? Friendship can overcome all differences. Bagheera is a leopard, but he is still a good friend to Mowgli, a human. Bagheera paid a bull as a price for Mowgli and now is teaching him to hunt. Laws keep society orderly and safe. When Mowgli was small, Bagheera paid a bull as a price for his life. To show respect for that bull, Mowgli must obey the law. Mowgli follows this law, which keeps him safe. Bigger and stronger creatures should look out for smaller creatures. Bagheera is large, strong, and fierce. He looks out for Mowgli by teaching him the ways of the jungle. He takes him hunting. Eating meat is an unhealthy habit. Bagheera teaches Mowgli to avoid eating beef because it is not as healthy as honey or fruit. Mowgli is obedient and does not eat beef.
Answer:
Laws keep society orderly and safe. When Mowgli was small, Bagheera paid a bull as a price for his life. To show respect for that bull, Mowgli must obey the law. Mowgli follows this law, which keeps him safe.
Explanation:
In the requirement to write and reflect on the theme of how the law helps maintain order in a society, Paxton can draw his opinion and writing sample from the given passage about Mowgli and the price for his life paid by a bull.
Mowgli's life was paid for by a bull, thereby implying that the bull is the 'savior' of his life. This, according to Bagheera, is why Mowgli must stay away from attacking any cattle. One must never turn on one's savior and must always ensure peace between them. Therefore, Bagheera's advice of respecting the bull which Mowgli obeys allows for peace between man and the forest animals. This is reflective of the theme of how laws help keep society safe and in order when everyone stays within the rule of the law and does not deviate from them
Thus, the correct answer is the second option.
Answer:
B=Laws keep society orderly and safe. When Mowgli was small, Bagheera paid a bull as a price for his life. To show respect for that bull, Mowgli must obey the law. Mowgli follows this law, which keeps him safe.

Having demonstrated their power by casting a terrible curse upon a sailor whose wife offended one of them, they encounter Macbeth and Banquo as the two soldiers ride from the battlefield. Macbeth shall be named as Thane of Cawdor and then king; Banquo, although he shall not himself rule in Scotland, will be father to future generations of kings. Immediately, the Witches vanish into thin air, leaving the two captains in amazement. Ross and Angus arrive on the scene to confirm what we already know, that Macbeth is to be invested with the thaneship of Cawdor. The Witches' first prophecy has come true.

Answer:
The haiku shares a distinct event in nature, while the romantic poem relays a personal experience with nature.

The common feature about a Haiku by Busan and an excerpt from "Frost At Midnight" by Samuel Taylor Coleridge is the presence of nature. Haiku refers to the Japanese form of poetry in which the beauty of nature is illustrated. On the other hand, the romantic poetry of Coleridge presents the poet's personal thoughts and feelings about nature. In Haiku the nature is viewed from a general perspective, while in romantic poetry, there lies a connection between the poet and the nature. The nature stands as a preacher or an instructor in the romantic poetry.
