Project: The Countries We Visit
There have been many lists of the Wonders of the World. The first known list was called the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, which was based on guidebooks used by the ancient Greeks and only included places around the Mediterranean rim. The Greeks chose the number seven because they thought it represented perfection and plenty.

In 2001, a Swiss corporation called New7Wonders Foundation launched an initiative to choose a new list from among two hundred existing monuments. In 2007, one hundred million people voted online for their choices of the New Seven Wonders of the World. The results were:

Great Wall of China
Petra, Jordan
Christ the Redeemer, Brazil
Machu Picchu, Peru
Chichen Itza, Mexico
Colosseum, Italy
Taj Mahal, India

The Great Pyramid of Giza was named an honorary candidate in deference to the Egyptians, who were unhappy that the pyramid would have to compete with monuments such as the Statue of Liberty.

Your assignment is to create a PowerPoint presentation of one of the New Seven Wonders of the World that will outline a vacation for a traveler visiting that site. Using online sources, research the site and find out about its history. Why do you think it was included on the New Seven Wonders of the World? What can a traveler do at the site?

You should include activities at the site that would last for one day. List two other areas of that country that the traveler may want to visit during an additional two days of the vacation. Also, describe the transportation the visitor will have to take to the site from the community in which you live, listing travel times. You should also include recommendations for lodging and describe the type of restaurants a traveler may find in the areas.

Assignment Directions
Part 1
Create a travel itinerary to one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Explain the history of the site and why it was listed as one of the world's seven wonders. Include two other places to visit in the country you choose and activities for a visitor at these locations. List transportation routes and recommendations for lodging.

Part 2
Create a PowerPoint presentation of your recommended trip to one of the New Seven Wonders of the World and two additional places to visit in the same country. You may use bullet points to illustrate the three sites the traveler will visit and to list the recommended hotels.

You should include photos for each destination to illustrate your recommendations.

Assignment Guidelines:
Your presentation must include the following elements:

Cite the history and importance of the Wonder of the World you chose.
List two other places to visit in the country and activities for a traveler in those areas.
Include a description of lodging and what type of restaurants a visitor may find in these areas.
List options for how your customer will travel to this site.

Originally Answered: Who decided which were the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World?

The ancient Greek historian and travel writer Herodotus is traditionally given the credit. His original list has been lost, but lots of other people wrote lists and said they were copies of Herodotus's list. Whether they were accurate or not, there's no way to know. Some lists are clearly not original with Herodotus because they include things that were built after he died.

Everything on the “original” list has been destroyed except for the Pyramids of Giza, and some, such as the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, may have been fictitious in the first place.

Why are there only seven Wonders of the World? Who decided upon them?

There’s no particular reason for it to be seven, specifically, beyond literary precedent. During the Hellenistic and Roman periods, Greek and Roman authors did a significant amount of travel writing, since they could easily visit a variety of places around the Mediterranean and Near East. And they started compiling lists of things they felt were really worth seeing. Antipater of Sidon and Philo of Byzantium, writing in the 2nd century BC, are among the first to compile lists of seven such places. Seven appears to have been a convenient number for other authors, so many repeated their pattern.

What is The Great Wall of China?

The Great Wall of China (traditional Chinese: simplified Chinese: pinyin: Wànl Chángchéng) is a network of defenses that were erected along the historical northern frontiers of ancient Chinese states and Imperial China to fend off numerous nomadic tribes from the Eurasian Steppe. As early as the 7th century BC,[4] many walls were constructed. Qin Shi Huang, the first emperor of China (220–206 BC), later joined a few selected portions. The Qin wall is largely gone.

Later, other succeeding dynasties constructed and kept up numerous sections of boundary walls. The Ming dynasty constructed the wall's most well-known parts (1368–1644).

In addition to providing protection, the Great Wall served additional objectives such as enforcing border laws, allowing taxes to be levied on commodities traveling along the Silk Road, regulating or promoting commerce, and managing immigration and emigration.

Read the excerpt from Brown v. Board of Education.

We must consider public education in the light of its full development and its present place in American life throughout the Nation.

Why does the Supreme Court make this distinction?
The court recognizes that the current delivery of education might compromise citizens’ rights.
The court recognizes that the US education system has evolved over time.
The court recognizes that people in some localities are being treated unfairly by teachers.
The court recognizes that segregated schools require additional federal funding.

Answers

Answer: The court recognizes that the current delivery of education might compromise citizens’ rights.

Explanation:

Brown v. Board of Education was a Supreme Court case where it was ruled that segregation in schools was Unconstitutional. In doing so, the Court recognized that the way students were being educated could be said to be compromising the rights of citizens.

This was after the Court found out that segregated schools for blacks did not have equal facilities as those for whites which meant that they violated the 14th Amendment which states that every state must offer equal protection to people in its jurisdiction.

The court recognizes that the current delivery of education might compromise citizensrights, hence option A is correct.

What is the idea of Brown v. Board of Education?

The U.S. supreme court held unanimously in Brown v. Board of Education that racial segregation in public schools was unconstitutional under the fourteenth amendment to the Constitution.

Separate educational facilities for white and African American pupils were deemed to be fundamentally unequal in the 1954 ruling.

In the supreme court case of Brown v. Board of Education, segregation in schools was found to be unconstitutional. In doing so, the court acknowledged that it was possible to claim that the way citizens' rights were being protected in schools was being compromised.

Therefore, the court is aware that how education is now provided can compromise citizens' rights.

what’s the meaning of the quote “ Should you not find the pearl after one or two divings, don’t blame the ocean! Blame your diving! You are not going deep enough. ”

-P. Yogananda

Answers

Answer:

In the given quote, P. Yogananda explains how one must focus on the practice or efforts one has given in order to achieve or find God rather than putting the blame on others. Metaphorically speaking, he uses the example of finding a pearl to talk about finding God. If the effort to find a pearl is unsuccessful in the initial efforts, don't blame the ocean, but rather try to change your technique and then, find other ways to achieve your goal. Similarly, finding God must not be hard. Don't blame God for not being easily available. But try to practice things that will help you 'find' Him, if one effort fail, try another practice, and another, until one achieves success.

Explanation:

Paramahansa Yogananda, an Indian Hindu monk, yogi, and guru, was one of the earliest major Indian teachers to settle in the US. His main purpose was to bring to light the unity of religion and science, the interrelated nature of the Eastern and Western religions, and to help spread the practice of yoga and meditation.

In his "Man's Eternal Quest", he reveals how man's nature of partial work often leads to unsuccessful efforts. To him, he believed that one must work hard, even to the extreme, if one is really to find salvation in God. In his quote "Should you not find the pearl after one or two divings, don't blame the ocean! Blame your diving! You are not going deep enough", he delves into the need to "dive deeper" in our efforts to 'find' God. If one is unsuccessful in the initial efforts, instead of blaming and giving up, one must try again until one achieves success.

He uses the metaphor of finding a pearl in the ocean as finding God. If finding the pearl is unsuccessful, one must change one's diving skills. Likewise, to find God, one must try until one is successful, even if that involves changing patterns or practices.

To him, the problem is never in God or "the ocean". But the problem is in the person and how he approaches.
