Why do you think that having discussions with other people helps us learn more? Describe an example where you learned something from a conversation you had with someone.

Answers

Answer 1

Answer:

You get to see other peoples point of view, and it helps you open your mindset

Explanation:

Answer 2
There are many things we can learn from others. One of the best avenues for learning can be in simple exchanges with people with differing or unique viewpoints. A simple exchange in a coffee shop can open doors you’ve never pictured happening before.

As humans, we’re naturally social creatures. Speaking has always been a necessity. Verbal communication was how our ancestors communicated danger or expressed simple emotion. We thrive of each other. We learn through hearing other people’s wins and losses. We learn about other cultures by having conversations with those who live within them.

One such example is a conversation I had with a coworker who was originally from Iraq. Within our exchanges, he told me about his life there. I had a basic idea of was Iraq was and some of the turmoil happening there, but it wasn’t until his first hand account that I truly began to grasp the woes he had experienced. The true beauty of his home country, and some of the not so pretty aspects of it. It was eye opening and gave me a whole new view on Iraq.

It can be reinvigorating to have a discussion with someone with a differing perspective. Give you insights you never before pondered, new material to examine, and possibly, an entirely new outlook on life.

Hello. You forgot to show the options and answer. The options are:

A. means to do something again.

B.  means doing something a certain way.

C. is the opposite of something else.

D.  is the exact same as something else

Answer:

C. is the opposite of something else.

Explanation:

The word "anti" is a prefix that presents an idea contrary to a noun that will be presented shortly thereafter. This promotes a full understanding of what an entity causes in the text. This is because antithesis is a figure of speech that shows the exposure of opposing ideas in the same text or sentence, presenting a contradictory idea, as well as the prefix "anti".

Before the incident in the woods, how does the author build up tension to suggest something ominous might occur?

Answers

Hello. You did not say the text to which this question refers, which makes it impossible for this question to be answered accurately. However, I will try to help you in the best way possible.

To build up tension before the forest incident, the author can build a narration that imposes a totally unpredictable atmosphere and promotes a strong suspense in the reader. In this case, the author does not show any kind of foreshadowing, but only accumulates unpredictable, unthinkable and incalculable elements that make the reader understand that anything can happen at any time in history.

Aphorism

Explanation:

Anagram is a word, phrase, or name formed by rearranging the letters of another. I don't think this is it because they is no words that were rearranged.

Aphorism is a pithy observation that contains a general truth. This could be true!

Analogy is a comparison between two things. This is not it because there are not two things being compared.

Allusion is an expression designed to call something to mind without mentioning it explicitly; an indirect or passing reference. This is not it because this sentence is explicit meaning it is very straight foward.

Out of all four of those... I would go with Aphorism.

One inference that can be drawn from the story of Little Red Riding Hood is “you should not talk to strangers.”

What is an inference? How is it different from a prediction?

Answer:

An inference is a conclusion reached based on certain premises and through the use of logic. The main kinds of inference are deduction, induction, and abduction.

Explanation:

In the story of Little Red Riding Hood, the mother had warned her daughter not to talk to any strangers on the way to her grandmother. However, the girl talks to the wolf and becomes his prey. Based on this information, we can infer that the author meant to write a cautionary tale about not talking to strangers.

submit your sentences, two for each tense, in the present perfect, past perfect, and future perfect.

Answers

Answer:

Present perfect-

I have done my chores.

She has eaten all the cake.

Past perfect-

I had finished my homework before he reached.

The cab driver had arrived before I reached the location.

Future perfect-

I will have skipped my lecture.

She will have arrived by this time tomorrow.

Explanation:

The three forms of tenses for the perfect tense are- Present perfect, past perfect and the future perfect. And depending on their condition as "present, past, or future", their form will differ.

In the present perfect tense, a link or relationship is made between the present and the past, describing an action that has happened in the past but has a connection with the present. The exact time of the action is not important in this tense.

The form or structure of this tense is "has/have+ the past participle".

Examples-

I have done my chores.

She has eaten all the cake.

The past perfect tense is used to make clear when one event in the past happened before another past event. This tense is used to describe events that have been completed at some point, though in the past. The form of this tense is "had+ past participle" .

Examples-

I had finished my homework before he reached.

The cab driver had arrived before I reached the location.

The future perfect tense is used to describe or talk of an event that is planned to happen sometime in the future but was planned. This means that something that is to happen in the future has already been planned in the past. The form of this sentence is "will have+ past participle".

Examples-

I will have skipped my lecture.

She will have arrived by this time tomorrow.

3. Write two sentences, one that uses the possessive case of a plural noun ending in s and one that uses the possessive case of a plural noun not ending in s.

Answers

Answer:

Possessive case of a plural noun ending in -s:

- I didn't have the time to wash the girls' dresses.

Possessive case of a plural noun not ending in -s:

- People's manners have greatly improved after the workshop on empathy.

Explanation:

The possessive case, also known as the genitive case, usually consists in the addition of 's to the ending of a noun to indicate that that noun is the possessor of something. For example: Sheila's books. / Erica's mother. / John's letters.

When the noun already ends in -s in its plural form, all we need to do is add the apostrophe to indicate the possessive case:

- I didn't have the time to wash the girls' dresses.

When the noun has a plural form that does not end in -s, we need to add 's just like we would to its singular form:

- People's manners have greatly improved after the workshop on empathy.

1. What is an oxymoron?
2. What is the difference between hyperbole and an understatement?
3. What is one similarity and one difference between a simile and metaphor.
4. Explain personification.
5. Explain the meaning of figurative and literal.

Answers

Answer:

Ans 1) a phrase that combines two words that seem to be the opposite of each other, such as a deafening silence.

Ans 2) Hyperbole is a figure of speech that makes something seem bigger or more important than it really is. It uses exaggeration to express strong emotion, emphasize a point, or evoke humor.

Understatement is language that makes something seem less important than it really is.

Ans 3) While both similes and metaphors are used to make comparisons, the difference between similes and metaphors comes down to a word. Similes use the words like or as to compare things—“Life is like a box of chocolates.” In contrast, metaphors directly state a comparison—“Love is a battlefield.”

Ans 4) Personification is a figure of speech in which an idea or thing is given human attributes and/or feelings or is spoken of as if it were human. Personification is a common form of metaphor in that human characteristics are attributed to nonhuman things.

Ans 5)Literal language means exactly what it says, while figurative language uses similes, metaphors, hyperbole, and personification to describe something often through comparison with something different.
