D) The Mediterranean Sea

Answers

The feature that had the greatest impact on Rome was the Mediterranean Sea.

What impact does the Mediterranean Sea have on Rome?

The Mediterranean region has been at the center of the political, economic, and cultural development of Europe. Except during the Roman Empire, the Mediterranean has always been politically and religiously fragmented.

These divisions, within a limited geographical space, shaped a world in which issues of trade and politics have always been very closely interconnected.

Therefore, from the above statement, it is clear that option D, the Mediterranean Sea, is the correct option.

my brain had to process that for a while

This question is hilarious lol. But I guess you can look at it that way since the definition for soup according to Oxford dictionary is "a liquid dish, typically made by boiling meat, fish, or vegetables, etc in stock or water" and if the ocean has plenty of one thing, then its water!

Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt,

Washington D.C.

Dear Mrs. Roosevelt

On January 1st I was laid off from my work, leaving my father the whole support of our family. Just recently he was cut down to three days a week with a cut in pay. With seven of us in the family, it is just about impossible for us to live on this amount of money. Our bills are piling up, and we are behind on our rent.

I am 18 years of age, the oldest girl in the family, and it just seems impossible for me to get a job any where. I have been to mills, stores and firms of all sorts. I am willing and able to work. It just seems impossible to find work.

If you could help us out with money from $35.00 to $50.00, I believe we would be the happiest family in the world. Just as soon as I get back to work, I will pay you back as much a week as possible until your kind favor has been fully repaid.

Gratefully yours,

D.B.

The Fall of the House of UsherBy Edgar Allan PoeShaking off what must have been a dream, I scanned more narrowly the real aspect of the building. Its principal feature seemed to be that of an excessive antiquity. The discoloration of ages had been great. Minute fungi overspread the whole exterior, hanging in a fine tangled web-work from the eaves. Yet all this was apart from any extraordinary dilapidation. No portion of the masonry had fallen; and there appeared to be a wild inconsistency between its still perfect adaptation of parts, and the crumbling condition of the individual stones. In this there was much that reminded me of the specious totality of old wood-work which has rotted for long years in some neglected vault, with no disturbance from the breath of the external air. Beyond this indication of extensive decay, however, the fabric gave little token of instability. Perhaps the eye of a scrutinizing observer might have discovered a barely perceptible fissure, which, extending from the roof of the building in front, made its way down the wall in a zigzag direction, until it became lost in the sullen waters of the tarn.Read this line from Fall of the House of Usher:In this there was much that reminded me of the specious totality of old wood-work which has rotted for long years in some neglected vault, with no disturbance from the breath of the external air.Why does the narrator describe the house in this way?
