Which characteristic of a legend is detailed in this excerpt?
Read the excerpt from "The Chenoo."
Long ago, during the Moon of Falling Leaves, a woman and her two brothers traveled to the north to set up a hunting camp. Hoping to bring back enough furs and meat for the winter, they went far away from their village, much farther than anyone had gone in a long time.
Answers:
A exaggerated fact
B early period setting
C strength of a hero figure
D fictitious or invented ideas
Answer:
B. early period setting
Explanation:
"Legends" are narratives that are believed to have taken place in the past or in the old days. The excerpt above starts by saying "Long ago" and this entails that the story happened in the human history. We can conclude that the setting is in the early period because it mentioned about hunting for furs and meat. This was a common activity for humans in the past.
Unlike myths, which focuses on gods and goddesses, legends center on historical heroes. It also follows a particular setting, which means that the story occurred in a specific time and place.
Answer:
It's not "strength of a hero figure" or "fictitious or invented ideas" because there was nothing made up and there was no character building. I think it's an exaggerated fact because they exaggerated when this happened and also at the end, but still put fact into it. So that's why I think its a exaggerated fact more than an early period setting example.

what kept the Mauryan king well informal?
Answer:
he Maurya Empire was a geographically extensive Iron Age historical power based in Magadha and founded by Chandragupta Maurya, which dominated the Indian subcontinent between 322 and 185 BCE. Comprising the majority of South Asia, the Maurya Empire was centralized by the conquest of the Indo-Gangetic Plain, and its capital city was located at Pataliputra (modern Patna).[15][16] The empire was the largest political entity that has existed in the Indian subcontinent, extending over 5 million square kilometres (1.9 million square miles) at its zenith under Ashoka.[17]Chandragupta Maurya raised an army, with the assistance of Chanakya, author of Arthasastra,[18] and overthrew the Nanda Empire in c. 322 BCE. Chandragupta rapidly expanded his power westwards across central and western India by conquering the satraps left by Alexander the Great, and by 317 BCE the empire had fully occupied northwestern India.[19] The Mauryan Empire then defeated Seleucus I, a diadochus and founder of the Seleucid Empire, during the Seleucid–Mauryan war, thus acquiring territory west of the Indus River.[20][21]
At its greatest extent, the empire stretched along the natural boundary of the Himalayas, to the east into Bengal, to the west into what is present-day Balochistan, Pakistan and the Hindu Kush mountains of what is now eastern Afghanistan.[22] The dynasty expanded into India's southern regions[23][24] by the reign of the emperor Bindusara, but it excluded Kalinga (modern Odisha), until it was conquered by Ashoka.[25] It declined for about 50 years after Ashoka's rule, and dissolved in 185 BCE with the foundation of the Shunga dynasty in Magadha.
Under Chandragupta Maurya and his successors, internal and external trade, agriculture, and economic activities thrived and expanded across South Asia due to the creation of a single and efficient system of finance, administration, and security. The Maurya dynasty built the Grand Trunk Road, one of Asia's oldest and longest trade networks, connecting the north of the Indian subcontinent from east to west.[26] After the Kalinga War, the Empire experienced nearly half a century of centralized rule under Ashoka. Chandragupta Maurya's embrace of Jainism increased socio-religious reform across South Asia, while Ashoka's embrace of Buddhism and sponsorship of Buddhist missionaries allowed for the expansion of that faith into Sri Lanka, northwest India, Central Asia, Southeast Asia, Egypt, and Hellenistic Europe.[27]
The population of the empire has been estimated to be about 50–60 million, making the Mauryan Empire one of the most populous empires of antiquity.[28][29] Archaeologically, the period of Mauryan rule in South Asia falls into the era of Northern Black Polished Ware (NBPW). The Arthashastra[30] and the Edicts of Ashoka are the primary sources of written records of Mauryan times. The Lion Capital of Ashoka at Sarnath is the national emblem of the modern Republic of India.

Nicholas’s Diary: April 2 and 3
Friday, April 2
Well, it’s only 10 more hours until my father and I leave for our treasure hunt. Every Saturday morning for as long as I can remember I have seen him leave, always by himself, to look for treasure. I have always longed to go with him, and he’s always told me that someday I would get the chance. I was so excited when he told me I would finally have my chance that I was bouncing off the walls like a rubber ball and springing from one place to the next the rest of the day.
He has always been as quiet as a mouse about the treasure that he finds, scurrying away with his equipment in the morning and piling up his treasure in his study. Even though he says he always comes home with something, he has never shown it to me or even told me what type of treasure it is. Is it gold, or silver, or maybe it’s precious jewels? Whatever it is, tomorrow I will find out, and hopefully he’ll let me bring some to class so that I can show my friends since I’ve been bragging about it to them ever since Dad told me I could go!
Saturday, April 3
The treasure hunt was fun, but it was not what I expected. Dad and I left early in the morning and headed for the same woods that we sometimes go hiking in on Sundays. I never would have thought they hold treasure, but what was really odd was when Dad told me to leave the shovels at home because we wouldn’t need them. But what he did bring with him was a bright yellow GPS . I had seen it in his truck many times before. I always wondered what he did with it. Today I found out.
Dad and I wandered into the woods, first staying on the hiking path I had taken several times before and then veering off the path. The forest was like a statue; it was still and covered in damp moss and dead leaves; it didn't even seem alive. It appeared that no one had been there for a long time so I knew that this treasure must be old and far under the ground. How were we going to get to it without shovels?
As Dad kept his eyes on the GPS , I looked around, and suddenly I noticed a patch of leaves that was disturbed and a log that looked like it had been moved. When I asked Dad about it, his eyes lit up, and he said he saw the treasure. He reached under the log and pulled out a plastic box with a label that read “Official Geocache.”
I didn’t know what an official geocache was, but I soon found out when Dad opened it. Inside was a little notebook and a bunch of small items like a set of dice, a toy car, and a large silver dollar. Dad said that he thought the toy car was cool, so he took it out and put it in his pocket and then pulled a golf ball from his other pocket and put it in the box. He wrote his name and my name in the little notebook and then closed the box and put it back where he found it.
Geocaching, which is what Dad later told me this type of treasure hunting is called, was much different than digging for gold in the ground. But I thought it was fun, and I hope Dad takes me again next Saturday.
Which sentence from “Nicholas’s Diary: April 2 and 3” contains an analogy?
"He has always been as quiet as a mouse about the treasure that he finds, scurrying away with his equipment in the morning and piling up his treasure in his study."
“…hopefully he’ll let me bring some to class so that I can show my friends since I’ve been bragging about it to them ever since Dad told me I could go!”
“Is it gold, or silver, or maybe it’s precious jewels? Whatever it is, tomorrow I will find out…”

What is the similarities between star girl and 7th grade
Both main characters in the stories, Seventh Grade and Stargirl behave in ways intended to impress the popular student.
In his short tale "Seventh Grade," Gary Soto describes how seventh-grader Victor tries to win over and be friendly with Teresa, a girl he likes. He admitted that Teresa was going to be his girl this year and that all of his actions, including enrolling in French class, were done to win her over. Similarly, Leo Borlock, a lovestruck character in Jerry Spinelli's "Stargirl Caraway," also aspires to impress Stargirl, a well-known student at their Mica High School. He was obsessed with her and would stop at nothing to obtain her attention.
In both stories, Seventh Grade and Stargirl, the fictional Victor and Leo worked their hardest to amuse, impress, and get to know and like the girls they liked. Additionally, they are unsure of where they stand, which is another problem.

NYC News — News For the People
March 15, 2014
Today, March 15, 2014, the residents of New York City took advantage of the spring weather to join the NYC Historical Society in burying a time capsule. Their hope is that on March 15, 2114, it will be opened and the future residents of NYC will have a testament of what life was like 100 years in the past.
Locked away in the titanium cylinder are important artifacts from the present day. "I want people of the future to understand what our lives were like, day to day — how we communicated and how we spent our days," said 14-year-old Sylvia.
"Yeah, when they open this," exclaimed middle school student, Devonne, "they are not going to believe their eyes!"
The objects inserted into the time capsule are varied. They were chosen by citizens from all walks of life and professions. Among those asked to contribute to the time capsule were librarians, teens, computer programmers, medical professionals, research scientists, gardeners, neurologists, biologists, and more.
Etched onto the surface of the time capsule are the words of the author, William Faulkner, as he accepted the 1950 Nobel Prize for Literature:
"I believe that man will not merely endure: he will prevail. He is immortal, not because he alone among creatures has an inexhaustible voice, but because he has a soul, a spirit capable of compassion and sacrifice and endurance."
The capsule was buried today, with much hope for the future.

Free the Real NYC lie in the gutters, trampled by terrified and panicked citizens.
Two teens Jack and Lily are on their way home from their secret meeting. They were trying to find a time capsule, said to have a weapon to help defeat them
enemies. Disappearing into the shadows trying to stay under cover. Stumbling
along the dark alley on their way, Lily tripped on something. It had a weird
shape, both Lily and Jack were curious and started to dig it out. It was a huge heavy titanium cylinder. There were words scratched out but the ones
understood were” he will prevail”. With effort they dragged the cylinder out and
what they looked upon leaves them speechless.
It was a long time since they had hope, inside the capsule were antiques, secret
science development plans, and much more. But the object that interested both the
children were an old statue that was said to have great power. Unfortunately, they
had no idea how to activate this weapon. However, they did know someone who
would know, it was the secret agency they work for they all had been looking for this
weapon for years since Peril’s rule. After contacting their agency or as the kids called it NSA New York’s Secret Agency. The head of NSA immediately commanded that
they were to bring the time capsule to them though it won’t be a trouble-free journey
the fate of New York lied on their shoulders. He directly stated, “The weapon you
currently hold holds the key to freedom. Peril will stop at nothing to stay ruler of New
York City.”. They were also informed that one of Peril’s employees had spotted them
and they were going to be followed. Peril and his companion Danny will stop at
nothing to foil the teen's plans for freedom.
With this information, Jack and Lily immediately set off. It was not possible to carry
the whole capsule or even disguise it so, they only carried the weapon and hid the
capsule in a safe place to retrieve later. They refused to travel in secret as that would
be obvious but, conceal into the crowds. In spite of that Peril found them. He crept
up and shoved them into a room demanding the weapon and as he had rule on New
York everyone was terrified at the thought of standing up to him. Jack and Lily had no
idea of what just happened and have fallen, unknowingly opening a trapped door.
Jack could not help himself and shouted “This is so cool a trap door in an abandoned
house”. Peril heard this and smashed the door open however, instead of rattling the
teens he merely chuckled. A wicked smile grew on his face “Look what I found here”.
Jack and Lily climbed out just to find that Peril had the weapon.
