I’m from a rural area so it may not be the answer your looking for but, life in a rural area is kinda… dull.

Though don’t get me wrong I’m very thankful for my life and where I live isn’t that bad a problem. It’s just all you think about is how much better your life could be if you didn’t live here. You constantly think over and over how many better things there are in the city. Sure there are some pros but they don’t out way the cons.

Your constantly getting told to do work for other people as people who are older are more respected tell younger and un-experienced kids what to do so they don’t have to do the work. Not gonna lie, parents are lazy but they do try to do whatever they can. I’m constantly doing work for them but it isn’t as bad as most people thing. You kinda grow up that way you know?

We are almost all religious. There isn’t a gay, an atheist, or any other religion conflict where I live. Not saying it’s bad but most people that live where I live are misunderstood. Most people think we hate gays when in reality that’s more what we think. We think what your doing is wrong sure, but the fact remains that we don’t really care what you do. As what you do doesn’t affect me.

I don’t know, you grow up like this and you treat life a lot different. I guess that’s how everyone works. I know this won’t help and that’s fine. I also know not everyone in rural areas have the same position I’m in. But, I am from a very rural area and just trynna help you understand what life in a rural area is like here in the South. Centers of learning, such as universities, hospitals, and regional government, are usually located in urban areas. Many rural residents travel to cities to take advantage of economic opportunities there.

The cost of living in urban areas is usually much higher than in rural areas. It costs more to rent a house, buy food, and use transportation. For this reason, wages are usually higher in urban areas. The search for higher wages is another reason people migrate from rural areas.

In the United States, rural areas take up about 98 percent of the country but are home to only 25 percent of the population. In Ethiopia, a less-developed country where agricultural jobs are much more common, 87 percent of the people live in rural areas.

The king of England didn't like the Puritans much either. So, he gave them permission to set up colonies in New England. The Puritans landed in the area of Massachusetts. John Winthrop was on one of those ships. He knew England would be watching them to see how they did. He wrote, "We shall be as a city upon a hill, the eyes of all people are upon us." Winthrop later became governor of Massachusetts.

Puritans believed in predestination, which taught that God is all-powerful and all-knowing. So, each person is known to God at birth, and nothing a person can do or say could change his future. Not everyone could be a Puritan Church member. Only those chosen by God to be "saved" could be Church members. A person must see and feel the grace and power of God, so then he knows he is "saved." During the early years, ministers such as John Cotton made sure people were really "saved."

The colony needed more than the "saved" people to survive. There were many dissenters, or Christian men and women who were not "saved." These people had jobs in business which were needed for the colony to survive.

There was also a need for elected leaders that made laws. Ministers were not allowed to run for office. But many of the most important decisions were made by them.

Puritan life
Almost 14,000 more Puritans came to Massachusetts from England in the next few years. So the colony began to spread out across New England. People began to live longer and healthier lives. Puritans wanted their children to be able to read the Bible, so every town, with at least 50 families, built schools.
