Droughts have become increasingly dangerous because of...
a. acid rain.
b. oil spills.
c. ocean pollution.
d. climate change.

Answers

Answer 1

Answer: D

Explanation: Because acid rain would not really affect droughts, and acid rain is better than no rain, so A is out of the question. Oil spills usually affect water, and I never heard of a giant oil spill on land, so same with B.

Ocean pollution has absolutely nothing to do with droughts, because Ocean pollution is for the oceans, not land, so only D is left.

Why it's D is because climate change makes the earth hotter, and there is more water evaporating, and more severe droughts.

Answer 2
The answer D
Climate Change

Answer:

The Call of the Wild, on the surface, is a story about Buck, a four- year old dog that is part Shepherd and part St. Bernard. More importantly, it is a naturalistic tale about the survival of the fittest in nature. Throughout the novel, Buck proves that he is fit and can endure the law of the club, the law of the fang, and the laws of nature.

Buck had been raised in California, on the ranch of Judge Miller. There he had the run of the place and was loved and pampered by all. Unfortunately, one of the judge's workers had a gambling problem and stole Buck to sell him for fifty dollars. Buck fights being tied, caged, and beaten, but his efforts only frustrate him. He is put on a train and a boat, being shipped to Alaska to be used as a…show more content…

Most of the other dogs stay away from Buck because of his size and strength, but Spitz becomes his constant enemy, from whom he learns an important lesson. Spitz fights with Curly, one of the dogs that is friendly to Buck. Buck watches as all the other dogs attack and kill Curly once he is down. Buck is determined he will never be put in the same position. He will fight to the death if necessary.

Spitz constantly picks on Buck, wanting to get in a fight with him; Buck, however, resists the challenges from Spitz. Then one time he steals the resting-place that Buck has created for himself. Buck has had enough and attacks Spitz with a vengeance. Francois and Perrault have to separate the two dogs. Although the fight is stopped, the animosity continues, and the two enemies are always in a skirmish. Then one day when Spitz prematurely kills a rabbit that all the dogs have been chasing, Buck attacks again. The battle is fierce, and Buck is losing. He then calls upon his intelligence and imagination to defeat Spitz. Instead of going for his throat, Buck attacks Spitz's front legs, breaking both of them. Once he is down, the other dogs come in for the kill.

Now that Spitz has been eliminated, Buck is determined to become the leader of the dog sled team. When Francois and Perrault harness Sol-leks at the front of the team instead of Buck, he refuses to fall into his place. When the drivers try to catch him, Buck runs out of reach.

What I found interesting was how the dog adapted to his surroundings. He went from living a rich  life with his owner, to being kidnapped enslaved and beaten. I was in awe with how people could treat dogs. He trusted the men who took him, thinking they were his friends when all they wanted was money. All of his other owners we horrible and you could say that he probably has major trust issues now.

Write a paragraph comparing and contrasting the text medium and the audio medium of “The Tell-Tale Heart,” analyzing how the pace, character, and mood varied within each medium and how these differences affected you.
can somebody help?

Answers

“ The Tell Tale Heart” by Edgar Allan Poe claim for me is that the mediums were very similar since they were the same story the only difference was that the audio gave sound effects and made it more imaginative. The pace of the visual reading was much slower than the audio reading because the audio reading gave jump scares and sound effects to make the story go faster, rather in the visual reading you had to take your time and look for context clues to give hints to the reader. For the characters I feel that they were very similar. The only difference was that you actually got to hear the man’s voice in the audio rather in the visual you didn’t you just had to imagine it. And last but not least the mood. In the audio, the sounds and the voices made me feel frightened or panicked rather in the story i just felt aware or alarmed. So after reading both mediums the claim for me was definitely that they were both very similar but each medium affected you a different way.

After the course, I climbed to the top of a pole using only ropes and carabiner clips, and then I rappelled off the top. I even made a new best friend. Oh, by the way, the food was delicious. 2) She walks into the woods as the rain pours down on her, it's pitch black and she has no idea where she's going, or what is waiting for her at the end of the trail...

3) She will walk into the woods as rain pours down at her, the sky will be pitch black as she struggles to find her way. She will tremble with fear as she walks to the end of the trail.

What you gotta do:

Choose the paragraph you like the best for the last question.

the story:

The story is about A girl(or guy if you want to change pronouns) who is lost on a dark and stormy night, she enters a trail hoping to find a way out as she trembles with fear. She has a really bad feeling about this but still continues on the path. At the end of the trail, an old lady offers to help but little does she know the old lady is actually a kidnapper. the old lady takes the girl to her home and gives her a room to stay in. the girl looks around in the room when she stumbles across a dead body under the bed. suddenly she realizes this is not you sweet old lady but really the devil in disguise. The girl can't escape because the window is locked so later that night she puts the body on top of the bed making it a decoy. she waits under the bed. sure enough, the lady is back and viciously stabs the dead body multiple times. when the lady leaves the girl runs out of the house lucky and glad to make it out alive. She walks down the main road to find a bustling city, she finds a police station and explains what happens, the next day they arrest the old lady and return her[the girl] home.

You can change the pronouns and add a name, also I know the ending is a little dry.. you can edit it all to your liking

cAs he thought about the hieroglyphs in Thothmes' and Ramesses' names, Champollion realized their significance. It went far beyond the names themselves and gave him an insight into the entire system of hieroglyphic writing. For the names revealed that hieroglyphs were not simply representations of sounds. Nor did they have an exclusively symbolic meaning, as Thomas Young and other scholars had long believed. Instead, they were a combination of the two.

Read the passage.
We Live on Planet A: Young People Rally for Their Rights

Young people all over the world are putting pressure on government leaders. Their cause: saving the planet. Their methods: lawsuits, rallies, and education.

In 2017, 18-year-old Victoria Barrett and 21 other young people filed a lawsuit against the United States. It claimed that the government was ignoring their rights by not taking action on environmental problems. While this may seem extreme, Victoria believed it was necessary to persuade the government to help combat climate change.

In addition to speaking at conferences in Paris and New York City, Barrett has become involved with marches and has met with important political administrators.

Like Victoria Barrett, Greta Thunberg became passionate about climate change in her teens. In 2018, the Swedish teenager made national headlines when she camped out in front of Sweden’s Parliament. She held a sign that said “School Strike for Climate” in Swedish. Soon after, she began to travel all over the world to make speeches and talk to national leaders. Thunberg was chosen as Time magazine’s person of the year for 2019 because of her determination. Young people have been inspired by her. They have seen how committed she was to share the dangers of climate change. Many became activists themselves.

Students across the planet who were concerned about climate change began making their voices heard. Thousands of Australian students rallied in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane. In Islamabad, protesters cheered on a favorite minister who supports environmental change. In Germany, thousands marched in Munich, Hanover, Hamburg, Berlin, and Freiburg. The protesters included teenagers, scouts, and Red Cross volunteers. Two hundred young people in Bangkok marched to the Ministry of Environment. Dozens of students rallied in India outside the country’s Ministry of Housing.

In 2018, young people gathered at the United Nations Climate Change Conference. They shared their opinion that the use of fossil fuels should be eliminated. At the same time, students in Alaska asked their state’s government to declare a climate change emergency. In Canada, native teens wrote a letter to their Parliament to express concern over land that was being destroyed in the search for fossil fuels.

Being environmentally friendly doesn’t always mean being political. Students join clubs that promote recycling and use washable water bottles instead of plastic. Other students take classes such as environmental science and human geography to deepen their understanding of the world. Some are even attending local events and setting up tables to discuss important issues.

Stanford University offers a project that supports teaching scientifically accurate environmental curriculum. School boards in California have implemented new science standards. These standards promote literacy of the natural world and study natural systems. Erica Wallstrom, an earth science teacher from Vermont, prefers a more hands-on approach. She brings high school juniors to the earth’s polar regions to work directly with scientists in the field.

Students who can’t make the trip to the earth’s poles can find plenty of low-cost or free online resources. Nature, science, and natural history museums offer online summer classes. NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) and NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) offer detailed resources on their websites. Finally, some students can earn credit by completing individual study projects. Some write speeches. Some create science fair projects. Some organize lectures on important scientific ideas.

Education is helpful in a variety of ways. It increases awareness of important issues and creates a common vocabulary. It encourages positive behaviors and habits. As students learn about other cultures, they become more caring toward the people who live in other parts of the world. Education teaches students how to approach topics from different perspectives, even if they are the opposite of one another. And, of course, it increases basic concepts for understanding our world.

No matter how young people participate, Victoria Barrett believes that taking action on climate change is what it means to be a citizen on the earth.

“There [are] a lot of actions that you can take,” she says. “And there’s a lot of power you have as a young person.”

How does the author convey the central idea that young people have a voice in world events in "We Live on Planet A: Young People Rally for Their Rights"?
A.by emphasizing that being environmentally friendly and political aren't mutually
exclusive

B.by explaining the importance of education to better our world

C.by giving examples of youth who have taken specific action

D.by providing quotes from student leaders
