an equipotential line. Once the equipotential lines have been found, the electric field
lines, which are perpendicular to the equipotential lines, may be found. The strength of the electric field at any point is found by measuring the potential difference between adjacent equipotential lines and dividing by the distance between them. The distance between the lines is taken along the electric field lines which are perpendicular to the equipotential lines.
